About the role
As an Agents Engineer at LangChain, you will be a core contributor to LangGraph, the orchestration framework designed to build stateful, multi-agent systems. You will bridge the gap between experimental research and production-grade software by developing the runtime primitives that allow developers to build reliable, cyclic agentic workflows. Your work will directly impact how thousands of engineering teams deploy autonomous AI systems that are controllable, observable, and persistent.
Responsibilities
- Architect and implement core features within LangGraph to support complex multi-agent collaboration and persistence.
- Optimize the agent runtime for low latency and high reliability in production environments.
- Design intuitive APIs that allow developers to define sophisticated control flows and human-in-the-loop interactions.
- Collaborate with the LangSmith team to improve observability and debugging tools for nested agentic traces.
- Engage with the open-source community to triage issues, review pull requests, and evangelize agentic best practices.
- Develop reference architectures and advanced templates for common agent patterns like plan-and-execute or multi-agent handoffs.
- Work closely with the founders to define the roadmap for the next generation of autonomous AI infrastructure.
Requirements
- Extensive experience building complex applications with Python, TypeScript, or both.
- Proven track record of contributing to high-performance open-source libraries or distributed systems.
- Deep understanding of the LLM ecosystem, including tool calling, RAG benchmarks, and prompt engineering.
- Experience with state management, persistence layers, and building directed acyclic graphs (DAGs) or cyclic graphs.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, remote-first startup environment with minimal supervision.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals, including experience with concurrency, async programming, and API design.
- Excellent technical communication skills for explaining complex orchestration concepts to the community.
Benefits
Equity, benefits, remote.
