AI Coding Expert — Freelance (Remote — Worldwide)

Join Outlier as a freelance AI Coding Expert to directly influence the performance of next-generation large language models (LLMs). You will engage in high-level reinforcement learning from human feedback (RLHF) by evaluating and refining model-generated code across diverse programming languages. This role offers the flexibility to work asynchronously from anywhere in the world while contributing to the safety and accuracy of frontier AI systems.

- Evaluate the quality of AI-generated code snippets for accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to best practices. - Write high-quality, original code samples to serve as ground-truth training data for frontier models. - Conduct human-in-the-loop debugging to correct errors in model outputs and improve logical reasoning. - Rank multiple model-generated responses based on specific criteria like complexity, readability, and speed. - Create edge-case test suites to stress-test the robustness of AI coding assistants. - Document and report recurring patterns of model failure to help research teams refine training objectives. - Maintain consistent output quality across a high volume of diverse coding tasks and prompts.

- Proven professional experience or academic background in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. - Proficiency in at least two major programming languages (e.g., Python, C++, Java, Rust, or Go). - Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design patterns. - High attention to detail with the ability to identify subtle logic errors and security vulnerabilities in code. - Excellent written communication skills in English for explaining technical concepts and providing model feedback. - Access to a personal computer with a reliable high-speed internet connection for cloud-based IDE work. - Ability to work independently in a self-paced, remote environment while meeting quality benchmarks.
